BREAKING NEWS: OMGWTF!!!

Thank you, Admiral DMC McKeever, for bringing this to my attention in the comments thread for the Roboblog Chronicles show below.

Tobey Maguire is producing a freakin' ROBOTECH movie at Warner Bros.

I love this quote from Maguire, because this bodes well:

"We are very excited to bring 'Robotech' to the big screen," Maguire said. "There is a rich mythology that will be a great foundation for a sophisticated, smart and entertaining film."

Can you see him as Rick Hunter? I can. I totally can.

(Wonder who's going to play Spider-Man now if Maguire's working on this.)

Anyhoo -- DISCUSS!

  • If he's just serving as a producer and not acting in the movie, Maguire would have plenty of time to act in other projects. Many actors do this.

It could be interesting. Let's see where this is a couple of years from now.

  • Maguire's getting too old to play college nebbish Peter Parker anyway.

  • I saw this mentioned on Sci-Fi.com this morning and I got pretty excited.I will be interested to see if this gets off the ground as anything more than a project "in development". If it does I will be interested to see who they cast because though I can easily see Toby as Rick, I can't seem to armchair cast any one else.

  • I hope they make it as good as the tranformers movie I also hope they stick to the robotech story.I also hope that they are not makeing this film just to make some easy money so that when the film comes out all the robotech fans go and watch it and come out wishing they haden't.
But I'am excited and can not wait for the frist trailer.

  • Now this is the type of news I was hoping for back when they announced Robotech the Shadow Cronicles. Something way bigger and higher profile then want we gone with the Shadow Chronicles. Not that I did not enjoy the SC, but I wanted to see robotech go further and reach more people.

So I don't know about you but I'm seeing a re-imaging and reboot of robotech, kind of like Battlestar Galactica.

    More Robotech fun here
