The Roboblog Chronicles: Episode 4

Who from The New Generation do I think should be in the next ROBOTECH animation? You probably know if you watched last Thursday's show, but find out why. And what lovely little ROBOTECH-related trinket did I just recently score, and how does it tie into a possible promotional scheme I have for The Shadow Chronicles? Find out on today's episode of The Roboblog Chronicles!

  • I think you are right about Lancer . . . He really is the only member of Scott's team who would even have a reason to appear in future installments of the Shadow Chronicles, mainly because of his involvement with the "other" invid left on Earth. But I actually think that it would make more sense to see characters from the Macross and Southern Cross installments, as these characters are still out in space on the Expeditionary mission and maybe still on the sought after SDF-3! I would think that the cast of the New Gen would be taking it easy and helping rebuild human society on Earth.

  • Do we know with any certainty that in TSC continuity that the Regiss left two children behind? Given the retooling done to the ending of New Gen, is it possible that Sera's been retconned out of existence? Without Sera, Ariel's position as a "special" character is solidified entirely....

(Not that I think this was done, but it's a possibility until we see otherwise.)

There could be a case made for Rand's appearance in a future sequel, depending on whether HG wants to push his character into a darker direction. He grew up under the Invid Occupation of Earth, and with the exception of the Sentinels' aliens, he's one of the few who have first hand experience of Invid domination.

Not sure whether it's been mentioned, but I'd really like to see Marie Crystal pop-up in a future installment. RT needs a strong staple of Squadron Leaders beyond the "star" groups (Skull & Wolfe), and she'd fit that bill nicely.

  • Oh yeah . . . . two words: HOVER TANKS!!!!!!!!!!

That's what I would really like to see in the Shadow Chronicles!

  • Just want to say that although I haven't listened to the entire episodes of this little series you've made for yourself Mr. JLS, this whole speculating who would make it to any future animation is great stuff. Sorta like easy to digest fan fiction.

  • I don’t know about the Hover Tanks, but I definitely think there’s room for more of the Masters cast in Shadow Chronicles. There are some great characters like Nova, Marie, and Sean that could be slipped right into the story being that they are all military personnel. As much as I love the New Generation cast I agree that there really is no use for those characters in the current story arc, other than maybe(that’s a big maybe) using them in a brief cameo to guide Scott to Lancers whereabouts ala EotC. The more characters we see from the three sagas on screen together the more the show will visually become its own entity. As it stands the storyline is all that glues the three series together shadow chronicles really has a chance to meld three unrelated shows into one.

  • I for one would LOVE to see a NEW Hover Tank....I just dont see Lancer and Sera coming with them to find Admiral Hunter...but yeah I can see Scott going to talk to Lancer.

I would love to see a little snippet on board the SDF-3 with Rick and Lisa. Just a wish.
