ROBOBLOG III Archives

Closing Time.

I've been thinking things over, and despite my earlier excitement over doing a weekly live show, I've decided it's time to let go. It's time to close the ol' Roboblog. It's over two years since The Shadow Chronicles came out, the live action movie is looming far in the distance, and in the interim, there's nothing happening. Oh sure, the franchise isn't dead dead, we've got new Palladium RPG sourcebooks coming out and new toys trickling out from Toynami, but in terms of new story material ROBOTECH's lights are out.

Besides ... well, let me elaborate in a groggy-voiced rambling video I shot about twenty minutes ago:

Anyway, it's been a blast, folks. And if you want to keep in touch, you know where to find me. It's not hard.

  • I always say, if something's not fun anymore, don't do it. I could relate to a lot of what you said; it brought back a lot of memories of when I decided to stop doing the DoZ newsletter and fansub center. And yes, online fandom seems to have become a very hostile place, especially among RT fans. Too much baggage, indeed.

You've done a LOT for the RT community and you've certainly earned some peace. I wish you all the luck in the world with Scwonky Dog, and will see you on MySpace!

  • Johnathan its time to start work on your own ideas, your own dreams. Apply everything you've learned and have done for the roboblog's and use it for swonkeydog.

I'm sure the fans would like to see something new and creative from you.

There's and old addage that say's the old chinese symbol that represents 'crisis' is also the same symbol that represents 'opprotunity'.

    crisis = opprotunity

Maybe with all this knowledge and tools that you've learned into making the roboblog's could be refocused into swonkeydog.

Go for it Capt, and never look back. It's time for something new and creative in the world and not a rehash or reinvention.

swonkey dog blog. Like the ring to it. :)

  • To paraphrase John McEnroe: "You can't be serious!"I'm sorry to see the Roboblog go. :(

  • You've been nothing but a pure Robotech fan at heart, your writings and perspectives were always something to look forward to. You truly left your mark on the Robotech fandom and a lot of people will always appreciate the work you put into it.

  • I'll echo Fer's comments: if it's not fun, stop doing it. That's what pushed me out in late 2001 and has, for the most part, kept me only moderately and intermittently interested since then.

There is a lot of baggage out there, especially in Robotech terms. And, you know, maybe it's naive of me to think it, but I really do believe the nature of the "online community" has changed dramatically since we were all writing stories at the -5x Message Board. I don't know. There just doesn't seem to be that connection there anymore.

Good luck in your next venture Cap'n. I enjoyed Roboblog Chronicles and look forward to seeing your next video project.

  • I’m sorry to see the Roboblog go (Darkwater is definitely right: your perspective and views on Robotech were always something to look forward to), but I wish you luck on your next projects. I’m not sure if you still update your account, but feel free to look me up on DA (I think I have you favorited).

  • I'm also sad to learn that the Roboblog will be no more. But if it's time to move on, then that's the right thing to do. Good luck with your future ventures!

  • Oh, no. Did my email infect you with Mexican Apathy Flu?

Chin up, Cap'n, I'm sending you an email.

  • Aw. :(

Well, thank you for a few moments of brief publicity (even if you probably think of me as the Crazy Exedore Lady) and for holding down a few sites that gave me a nice and quick introduction to the franchise when I needed it.
